Hari
Jaisingh, former Editor of The Tribune group of publications,
has had a distinguished journalistic career spread over
a period of 38 years. He has worked in senior positions
with several leading Indian newspapers, including The
Tribune, The Indian Express, National Herald, the Business
& Political Observer.
A keen observer of Indian and global developments,
Jaisingh was also a contributor to the Morning Telegraph
and The Guardian, London. He occasionally participates
in television programmes.
A graduate from St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, Jaisingh
has a Masters degree from Jadavpur University, Calcutta
A strong advocate of the freedom of the Press and a
value-based democratic system, he is totally committed
to public causes and human rights of various sections
of society, especially the poor, the downtrodden and
the innocent. He has a reputation of being a crusader
against socio-economic ills and corrupt practices.
Widely travelled, Jaisingh has been associated with
professional bodies such as, the Press Council of India,
the Press Guild of India, the Namedia Foundation, the
National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO. He
is also on the Senate of various universities. He was
President of Editors Guild of India (2002-2004). |
